Seven Card spreads
One of my favorite Oracle card spreads is the week ahead spread. I usually do this over the weekend and take a photo of the spread at the end so I remember to associate the day with the card and get a deeper understanding of my day-to-day and how I choose to respond to life.
Start with a quick 10-15 minute meditation or chanting practice and then I read the prayer that comes with the cards to ask for clarity. I shuffle the cards and spread them on a table. I then pick a card starting from Monday to Sunday for the week ahead, which would be 7 cards, all upright. My intention is always to ask what I need to know for the week ahead or what is coming towards me in that week.
To finish up sometimes I ask for clarification on the cards from a Raider Waite deck or any other deck that I feel drawn to. By creating a weekly practice I can mentally and emotionally prepare myself for the week ahead and modify how I react to life events whether big or small.
Another insightful seven-card spread is the seven-chakra spread. Shuffle the cards and draw seven cards corresponding to each of the seven main chakras located in our body starting at the base of your spine and going up. If you are doing a chakra spread for the first time, you must start with a general check-in of your chakras, meaning ask the Universe and your higher self to show you how you are doing at this time.. so you can get an idea of your mental, spiritual, physical and emotional state. Just like going to your annual physical check-up. Then you can build more knowledge of your own being by asking the questions below.
Root Chakra - What can I do to be more stable and secure?
Sacral Chakra - How can I build on my self-worth to be more creative and sensual?
Solar Plexus Chakra - How can I build on my self-confidence and discipline?
Heart Chakra - How can I trust in the goodness of the world and open my heart more?
Throat Chakra - What do I need to speak honestly about?
Third Eye Chakra - What is my subconscious intellect trying to tell me?
Crown Chakra - What is the Universe guiding me towards?
It’s almost funny how insightful the chakra spread can be to oneself. For eg, I never knew my heart chakra was blocked for a very long time. As I was only focused on healing my Root and Sacral chakra. But with some meditation and lots of self-love, I have made tremendous progress in my healing journey and I wish you much resilience on your healing journey. You are stronger than you are aware of!
